Sculpture by Barbara Nelson

Creating the finest in Traditional Equine and Canine Sculpture Barbara is a member of the Society of Animal Artist's, who specializes in equestrian and canine subjects and related themes.

She is also a realistic bird carver who has been awarded Second and Third Best in World Life-size honors at the Ward Foundation World Championships. She has been the Master Carver for the Easton Waterfowl Festival and the Featured Sculptor for the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition. Although retired from competition, Barbara still occasionally creates bird carvings.

Her recent works in bronze include thoroughbred racing themes, fox hunting, life-size fox sculpture and canine commissions. Barbara has created the United States Combined Training Hall Of Fame Award and the Perpetual trophy for the Madison Square Garden Grand Prix.

She is an experienced rider who enjoys fox hunting, show jumping and eventing, and golf.

Barbara has a degree in Wildlife Biology from the University of Massachusetts. She has worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Forest Service, the Iowa State DNR, and was a governor's appointee to the Iowa DNR Commission for five years.

She and her husband now reside in Aiken, SC along , with their dogs, cats, and horses.
